Sinfully Delicious….Sinful Decadent Triple Chocolate Cookies

Call me naive! When I want something sinful my mind wanders to visions of chocolate. Images of thick chocolate ganache atop a buttery shortbread cookie or chunks of dark and white chocolate folded gently into a bundt cake batter or chocolate added to raspberries for sweet delicious scones.

Seems I must be an anomaly. How did I determine this…well it all started with a late night tv commercial. (This seems to be where much of my research comes from…tv and gossip magazine headlines.)

Pan to a zombie couple in bed (I presume they are zombies although no flesh was rotting off their bodies).  They are lying on either side of their bed and the woman looks over at her husband.  A few seconds lather the zombie woman is transformed into a glowing beauty with ample cleavage adorned in a silky white negligee while perusing a website on her laptop.  The Ashley Madison website name flashes on the screen.

Who is Ashley Madison and where can I order her stuff.  This is great!  Another new shopping site.  Makeup, hair products, lingerie…let’s check it out.  Yes!  A shopping site alright…just not the one I thought. ” Life is Short. Have an Affair.” is one of their tag lines.  Damn, no new shoes to be had here.

Seems Canadian Noel Biderman has made millions of dollars from 25 countries and 15 million subscribers to his “online dating service and social media site”.  Another of their successful tag lines reads “Save your marriage have an affair.”  Their mission is to provide a credible, confidential avenue for people (female people to be exact…but where available, horny women go men obviously will follow-hence ladies nights at bars) wanting to have an affair.

I’m still trying to figure out how this saves your marriage but again my idea of decadent and sinful are all tied into chocolate, butter and sugar.

Apparently the usual avenues married people use to meet partners for their affairs, you know the neighbour, the work collegue, the handy man, the nanny, have had less than desirable results….NO KIDDING!  Although I wonder what ARE the desirable results of committing adultery…oh, I’ve got it…no one ever finds out and life goes on with no down side for the person(s) participating.  So this way you can hook up with a stranger looking for sex…SO MUCH BETTER!!

Seems to me if Noel is becoming a multimillionare from this it must be costing the individuals actively looking on the site a fair bit of cash and I would imagine a fair bit of time, not to mention the cost of their marriage.  Wouldn’t it would be easier and cheaper to take a little bit of the time and money your willing to invest in a stranger and invest it in the partner you already have.  Maybe pay a babysitter so you have a little adult time out or pay for some therapy to help out your situation.  And just so you know in Canada the #1 city for active members on the site is OTTAWA…seems our civil service workers have a bit extra disposable income.

Just thinking about all the work involved in having an illicit rendezvous makes me doubly sure I prefer my idea of sinful decadence…triple chocolate cookies.  These involve very little cost, no lying or cheating, and in less than an hour you are more than satisfied.  It’s a win/win in my antiquated opinion.

Triple Chocolate Cookies – Sinfully Delicious!

Preheat oven to 350F.  Makes approximatley 24 cookies.

Whisk together in small bowl:

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour + 1 tsp. baking powder + 1/4 tsp. baking soda + 1/2 tsp. salt + 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

In a small sauce pan: melt 1/2 cup butter and add 6 ounces of bittersweet chocolate, chopped.  Stir until melted and smooth. Add in 1/2 teaspoon of instant espresso powder and stir until combined.  Let cool slightly.

In a medium bowl whisk together:  2 eggs, 3/4 brown sugar (I used 1/2 cup light brown sugar and 1/4 cup dark brown sugar), 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract.  Slowly whisk in melted chocolate.  Stir in flour mixture just until blended and then fold in 3/4 cup of white chocolate chips and 3/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips (I used Callebaut marble chocolate pieces instead of the semi-sweet.  Use all white or use some butterscotch chips).

Refrigerate for about 30 minutes.  Use a medium size ice cream scoop and place the dough on a parchment lined baking sheet a couple of inches apart.  Leave the dough in mounds as it will spread as it cooks.
